Hi! If you’ve found yourself here looking at his giant photo of me, then you must want to know a little about me, so here it goes! 

We will go ahead and get this out of the way because EVERYONE wonders….. Jay-See <– That’s how you pronounce it! 😉 

Also, this is me with makeup and my hair fixed. Please don’t expect me to look like this at your session. I will likely be dressed comfortably, light makeup, and a hair clip because… life.. 😉 

 

First and foremost, I am a mother to that wild crew up there. My oldest son who grew up with me, Luke, graduated highschool in 2024 and is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. My very calm and kind second son, Jaxson, is in full teenager mode and in the 7th grade and plans to join the US Air Force after graduation. Drew Thomas is my wild life of the party child who loves sports and video games but also has the biggest heart and is sure to take the best care of his Momma. Rounding out the crew is Alexis “Lexi”, also often referred to as her middle name, Landry, who is the true baby of the family, full of all the girl drama and sassiness that you can imagine. They all participate in various activities including band, soccer, pageants, music lessons (saxophone/drums/piano), softball and baseball as well as school clubs such as Student Council, BETA, and Drama club. They keep me on my toes and so very busy, but I am incredibly blessed and thankful for each and every one of them. So just in case, you were worried at all, I have PLENTY of experience with kids, to say the least!

I graduated in 2004 from Merryville High School, then in 2007, 2009 and 2021 from McNeese State University in Louisiana with a degree in Behavioral Science, an Associate of Science in Nursing and lastly a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. As an RN over the past 16 years, I have pursued my love for helping others in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Hospice and still currently work as an RN in my hometown in the Outpatient Surgery department and PACU as well as the Emergency Dept when needed. So many people ask how I turned into a photographer from a nurse and the answer has always been the same… it was an accident. In 2012, after my second son was born I asked for a “real camera” so that I could capture images of him growing. I continued to educate myself and practiced every chance I could. I photographed a newborn lifestyle session for my best friend, posted them on social media and it grew wildly from there. Then it just sort of evolved into a really expensive hobby which eventually turned into the beginning of JCP.  Oh, but did I fall head over heels in love with maternity, newborn, and children’s photography!  Since opening my business in 2012, I have pursued this with my whole heart and I pray that shows in my work. I have since been able to photograph over 1,000 beautiful newborns and countless pregnant bellies, births, weddings, high school seniors, children and families. I have also received multiple awards and recognitions which is just absolutely mind-blowing for me. I never thought that little hobby would turn into something as wonderful as JCP. 

 So many families have trusted me to capture this special moment in their lives and that is truly an honor. So many of them I call friends and family now and for that, I am so very thankful.  It is my prayer that you will look back at your portraits from our time together and be instantly brought back to how you felt watching your body create life, the first moment you laid eyes on your brand new baby, those little tiny fingers and toes that you’re now wrapped around, their big milestones as their first year flew by and every special moment in between.
